Kitty Flanagan: "Podcasts are the New Assholes"

Used to be that everyone had opinions, and a popular phrase correlated that fact with a similarly matched evacuating orifice. Now, according to Australian comedian Kitty Flanagan, we all have podcasts to express those points of view. Ergo…

If you aren’t familiar with Kitty, start queueing up her clips, which range from investigations of The Cloud to inquiries into Superannuation. As a correspondent for “The Weekly with Charles Pickering” — a kind of Daily Show for the folks Down Under — Kitty brings her impeccable timing and incisive humor to all aspect of modern life. I’d sum her up as 2 parts Jennifer Saunders, 1 part Samantha Bee, and add a splash of Janeane Garofolo.

And yes, there are way too many podcasts out there. Not just the downright terrible ones or the blandly amateurish which Kitty lampoons in the clip below. I have a hard time keeping up with the many genuinely wonderful, informative, entertaining, and worthwhile voices in podcasting these days. The only answer I’ve come up with so far is to sleep less.
